Top part
From AlwaysInnovating
The top part (or tablet) contains the screen, the touch screen, the speakers, the main board, and the battery. You can recognize several components:
Removing the main board
It's not recommended to remove the main board as it could be challenging to put it back. In case you need to do touch the board, read the following.
It's very important that you respect the order, especially the LCD cable should be removed last after flipping the board.
- Remove the 3 or 4 screws on the board.
- Unplug the battery cable. Just pull it off.
- Start to pull the board from the top. Push gently on the external USB connectors to eject the board.
- Unplug the speaker cable at the bottom of the board.
- pull on the yellow touch screen flex.
- return the board so that you can see the LCD cable.
- unplug very gently the LCD cable from the board.
The LCD connector on the board is very fragile. Remove it very very gently.
Reinstalling the main board
- Insert the yellow touch screen flex into the black connector. This step is very difficult. You may use a needle nose pliers to help you. But be very careful. Don't tear the flex. Be very gentle.
- Plug the speaker cable at the bottom of the board.
- Plug gently the LCD cable on the board. Be sure of the orientation of the connector. It's inversed. Don't force. It should just naturally clicked.
- Insert the board on the bottom case.
- Push the board to enter the external USB connector to the case.
- Reinstall the 3 or 4 screws on the board.
- Plug the battery cable. Be careful of the cable orientation. The silver pins should face the PCB board.
Removing the battery and check the screen cable
It's not recommended to remove the battery as it can be distorted and alter the performance of it. In case you need to do remove the battery, read the following.
- Unplug gently the battery cable. It should come very easily.
- Remove gently the battery, by taking it from the top. It is sticked with double-faced tape, so go slowly and be careful not to distort the battery. It can have a high resistance, so try where it is the easier.
- Check the screen cable: it should be well-plugged (no gold pin outside and no space left between the cable itself and the connector). You must be able to see a very tiny "IPX" carved on the cable metal part inserted in the connector. If not, your cable may be inserted upside down. In this case, unplug the cable and reinsert it in the good way
- When done, reinsert the battery cable. Use a screwdriver to really push it inside (be gentle again). You can then restick your battery (put the battery cable under the battery)
