Hardware fix

On boards revision B1 and revision C1, you can solder a wire to accelerate the charging of the top battery. This wire can help a little bit as it bypasses the resistor sensor, which in our design, limits the charging of the battery due to some TPS65950 limitations. As shown in the photos attached: there is only one wire that goes through the JTAG holes for convenience. It goes from pin 1 of U22 (first picture) to the "left" pad of R2 (considering the orientation of the JTAG holes in the picture). We recommend a wire of 28 AWG.

Charging your top battery using your keyboard part

Interconnect batteries

This will charge tablet battery from the keyboard battery.

Solder wire to pad with positive (+) polarity on J1 (Internal Battery Connector). It is thin black wire on this photo. Thick red and black wires soldered to C207 capacitor are from Battery wires fix and black-red-yellow cable on the left is a serial cable for console access, just ignore them in this manual.

Solder wire to number 7 (VBAT2) pad on the 8-pin connector.

Alternative way

Alternatively, to charge your top battery, you can use the board of your keyboard part, as described below. If you don't have one or don't want to open your keyboard part, you can still order a scratched keyboard on our website - which is free + $10 shipping cost. You can get then extract the board.

  • First, you need to open your keyboard part as described here

  • Then unplug the two cables from the board

  • Then plug your top battery in the bottom board, and plug the power adapter into the power jack hole.
