SerialConnector

You may want to check also the serial cable page.
WARNING:In removing the mainboard to do what follows I broke the LCD connector. I would advise that unless you have already removed the mainboard that you solder the wires from the backside of the board so you don't follow in my footsteps.
I wanted to hook up a serial port and still be able to use the use the Touch book normally which could not be done with this method. So I picked up some PC chassis fan cables which are small 3 pin keyed Molex connectors.

I cut the female/female to reach from the board to the side of the case on the other side of the battery. Then I soldered the black wire to P9-pin1, red to P9-pin2 and yellow to P9-pin3.

Finally cut the male cable to length and soldered it to a DE9 (Sometime mistakenly called a DB9) black to pin5, red to pin 3 and yellow to pin 2.

This allows me to open the top and connect the serial cable and do my work, then disconnect the cable and close the top, no ugly holes or dangling connectors.
