[9:13] <marc252> hello, after an unexpected battery drain, I got my touchbook back running, I had to unsoldier the protection circuit on the battery and recharge at 1amp for 5 hours, now at least the TB boots. I would like to get readings of battery capacity on the TB, I know it will be ready for the next revision, but I would also know how to do it myself. I know this battery is not supported by acpi, so where could I start?

[10:39] * iscape (~m@ip-93.net-82-216-184.nice.rev.numericable.fr) has joined #touchbook
[10:40] <iscape> i just ordered a touchbook. question: does mplayer support fullscreen video display, i.e. is hw acceleration supported?
[10:40] <iscape> would be great to have
[10:44] <gregoiregentil> it plays fullscreen and it uses the Neon optimization (but not the DSP)
[10:44] <gregoiregentil> Totem is using the DSP but it's not the default video player
[10:47] * alextisserant (~alextisse@72-254-93-209.client.stsn.net) Quit (Quit: alextisserant)
[10:51] <iscape> fullscreen is enough, doesn't need to be highest quality. I'm on a R&D project for video streaming over SCTP and currently only mplayer does it
[10:52] <iscape> we look for an embedded test platform and the touchbook is probably the best candidate
[10:52] <gregoiregentil> ok
[10:53] <iscape> apart from that I have a few new features for tangoGPS upcoming and am curious to test it on the touchbook myself
[10:54] <tommd> tangoGPS is nice on the TB - what features have you added?
[10:56] <gregoiregentil> I'm open to integrate other patches
[10:56] <iscape> map overlay, rotating map, and sports functions
[10:56] <gregoiregentil> tommd: I'm preparing a kernel wiki page to show the status.
[10:56] <iscape> am the author
[10:57] <gregoiregentil> I was about to say: you should send them upstream!!! lol
[10:57] <tommd> gregoiregentil: Great - sorry I didn't end up doing that, but it would have been contentless. Basically "something crashes on rotation"
[10:57] <gregoiregentil> tommd: yes, it's video related, not accelerometer. It should be fixed early next week
[10:57] <tommd> iscape: I've often felt it would be nice to draw on TangoGPS maps
[10:57] <tommd> ... and share the overlay drawing with others.
[10:58] * tommd changes location, brb
[10:58] <gregoiregentil> iscape: let me know which version I should take. Right now, we have 0.99.3
[10:59] <gregoiregentil> iscape: you probably saw my tangogps video ;-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK6jVxd_o14
[10:59] <iscape> that is the latest. next release next week most likely
[10:59] <gregoiregentil> cool
[10:59] * tashiro (~tashiro@53535F3E.cable.casema.nl) has joined #touchbook
[10:59] <iscape> yes, very happy about it. still have to write a news
[10:59] <iscape> once i have my tb it certainly will be more often featured
[11:06] * Meizirkki is looking forward to the 2.6.32 kernel :)
[11:12] <tashiro> what is new in 2.6.32?
[11:13] <Meizirkki> tashiro, afaik thumb2 fix + PM
[11:13] <gregoiregentil> + cpu scaling
[11:14] <tashiro> nice, very nice
[11:14] <Meizirkki> ^
[11:18] <Meizirkki> gregoiregentil, are there public testing versions of 2.6.32 ?
[11:18] * Meizirkki can't wait :P

[11:39] <Raedwulf> :P

[12:05] <tommd> Meizirkki: Not sure if GG responded (I disconnected), but I can upload my build or 2.6.32 if you'd like, but X crashes on rotation
[12:05] <tommd> s/or/of/
[12:06] <tommd> iscape: I JUST closed a PM from you - sorry, didn't notice it was a non-chanserve pm.

[13:17] <Maeslin> good news, just received those embedded webcam boards I ordered and they will definitely fit in the TB frame
[13:19] <Maeslin> those things are friggin tiny. 5/16" wide by 2-5/16" long. Now I just have to figure out the weird pinout on them

[13:36] <Maeslin> a tiny little JST connector
[13:36] * mobile (~mobile09@231-81.76-83.cust.bluewin.ch) has joined #touchbook
[13:36] <Maeslin> standard usb interface w/ nonstandard connector
[13:37] <Maeslin> I figure it's probably .039" pitch
[13:37] <Aard> Maeslin: can you make a picture with them on the touchbook for easy comparison?
[13:37] <mobile> how ca i set WPA2 in the network settings
[13:37] <Maeslin> AARD >> just a picture of the module on the touchbook?
[13:37] <Aard> yep
[13:37] <Maeslin> inside the TB w/ the back opened?
[13:38] * bstag (~bstag@66.190.76.47) has joined #touchbook
[13:38] <Aard> preferably inside with back opened
[13:38] <Maeslin> doing so right now
[13:38] <Maeslin> not bad for $1.90 each + shipping :D
[13:41] * mobile (~mobile09@231-81.76-83.cust.bluewin.ch) has left #touchbook
[13:44] <Maeslin> Aard >> sending file over DCC
[13:45] <Maeslin> in metric that's 8mm wide by 6cm long
[13:47] <Maeslin> hm dcc didn't work. is the email adress you have on the wiki functional?
[13:47] <Aard> should be
[13:48] <Aard> oh, I could update my location information there
[13:49] <Maeslin> sent to the @lart.info address
[13:49] <Maeslin> you should be getting it shortly
[13:50] <Aard> got it, thanks. are you hinter nat?
[13:50] <Aard> args, s/hinter/behind/
[13:50] <Maeslin> yeah but I have the right ports opened for DCC
[13:51] <Aard> error here was `can't connect to.. port 1024'
[13:52] <Maeslin> odd
[13:52] <Maeslin> let me open that oen
[13:52] <Maeslin> *one
[13:52] <Aard> I gave up getting dcc to work behind nat somewhat ten years ago
[13:53] <Maeslin> yeah it's a real pain to get working and it usually stays quirky
[13:54] <Aard> size of the module seems to be fine, though I'd prefer if it were shorter
[13:54] <Maeslin> Don't think they make those much shorter while staying that narrow
[13:55] <Maeslin> with the width as it is, there is about 1.5mm of clearance left in the groove around the LCD
[13:55] <Aard> oh well, won't get my electronics stuff here before july anyway, so lot's of time to think about it
[13:55] <Maeslin> ok
[13:55] <Maeslin> already identified the connector and found a source for a matching female. I probably have one or two of those stashed up somewhere too.
[13:56] <Maeslin> and I think I have the pinout identified

[15:26] <Maeslin> ebay, the guy has a bunch of them and will apparently ship to NZ
[15:26] <Maeslin> http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330360813725
[15:26] <Maeslin> $1.90 each
[15:27] <Maeslin> haven't tried the actual webcam module yet but, well, for $1.90 it's not a big loss. :p
[15:44] <GreyWolfNZ> agree . don't have a TB yet but hopefully before end of year :-)
