[1:01] <Sn0wman_Desk> gregoiregentil: is the OMAP3530 running at the full 720MHZ?
[1:07] <Sn0wman_Desk> never mind, just read the wiki. Why don't you add in the extra 120Mhz?
[1:18] * leinir (~leinir@amarok/usability/leinir) has joined #touchbook

[3:09] <DJWillis> Sn0wman_Desk: you know the OMAP comes in several 'speed' classes? I am not sure current TB's have the 720Mhz SoC's in them.
[3:25] * reis (~reini@cm133-175.liwest.at) has joined #touchbook

[3:59] <Corsac> gregoiregentil: feature request: manage to get Angry Birds running on touchbook :)
[4:00] <Corsac> (might involve running Mer)
[4:06] <Noume> Well i'd like to see a ethernet interface ;)
[4:06] <Sn0wman_Desk> DJWillis: no I didn't know that
[4:07] <Sn0wman_Desk> how'd he port the original iphone app?
[4:10] * jvs (~jvs@90.146.56.206) has joined #touchbook
[4:13] <Corsac> Sn0wman_Desk: you mean crazy tank?
[4:13] <Sn0wman_Desk> yah
[4:15] <Corsac> not sure
[4:53] <Sn0wman_Desk> anyone have any helpful hints on how to work on the touchscreen? I tried modifying the /sys/.../... stuff for the touchscreen but they don't take effect when I save it and they disappear when I restart. Do I have to recompile the driver?
[4:54] <Corsac> what do you mean by ???don't take effect when I save it???
[4:54] <Corsac> save what?
[4:55] <Sn0wman_Desk> if I edit /sys/devices/platform/omap2_mcspi.4/spi4.0/debounce_max in nano and save it, theres no effect on the touchscreen's pressure sensitivity (or maybe thats the wrong file)
[4:56] <Corsac> you usually don't do that in nano but use something like "echo foo > /sys/..."
[4:57] <Sn0wman_Desk> ? doesn't that have the same effect?
[4:57] <Corsac> and I don't really know about sensitivity stuff, so I'm not sure which files would change that
[4:57] <Corsac> it's just that it's safer with echo, it's not real files you know
[4:57] <Corsac> so editors might do wrong stuff on them
[4:58] <Corsac> it's just safer
[4:58] <Corsac> no big deal usually
[4:58] <Sn0wman_Desk> ah alright
[4:58] <Sn0wman_Desk> thanks I'll try that, but would I have to recompile the driver if I wanted to edit things like that?
[4:58] <Corsac> I don't think so
[4:58] <Corsac> but I don't really know about ts sensitivity
[4:58] <Corsac> where did you found info about debounce_max?
[4:59] <Sn0wman_Desk> the wiki
[4:59] <Sn0wman_Desk> http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/Touchscreen_calibration
[4:59] <Corsac> ok
[4:59] <Sn0wman_Desk> well that definiately worked for debounce_rep
[4:59] <Corsac> and you're sure about the meaning of the files?
[5:00] <Sn0wman_Desk> changing from 1 to 0 made the repetition of getting the pointer location a lot faster
[5:00] <Sn0wman_Desk> not particularlyo
[5:00] * MMlosh (~MMlosh@2001:470:1f0b:b78:24b1:78d1:e850:cca6) Quit (Quit: Bye...)
[5:00] <Sn0wman_Desk> I was sure about the _rep though
[5:01] <Corsac> I'm not even sure what debounce means :)
[5:01] <Sn0wman_Desk> haha

[5:27] <Sn0wman_Desk> I know about http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/Touchscreen_calibration but I don't particularly know what controls what

[7:26] <martinh> hrm. I really need the shells to execute their appropriate rc files.
[7:26] <martinh> it seems like they're not executing any.
[7:30] <jod> how I determine which touchbook have 256MB RAM and which have 512MB RAM please?
[7:31] <martinh> as far as I know, all the ones currently in the field have 256M I think upcoming batches will have 512M
[7:31] <martinh> which annoys me. I want 512M badly.
[7:31] <martinh> I will likely end up buying another tablet portion soon.
[7:32] <jod> oh, realy? thx so much :D
[7:37] <martinh> note that I don't work for AI and don't know much about their internal operations. So, I could be totally wrong.
[7:59] <Sn0wman_Desk> now I believe you are right martinh
[8:05] <martinh> also. . .who's made vim work properly?
[8:05] <Sn0wman_Desk> vim? why not nano?
[8:06] <martinh> I think the answer to that is self explanatory. :->
[8:06] <martinh> the arrow keys aren't being arrow-key-ey for me.
[8:06] <Sn0wman_Desk> gotcha
[8:07] <martinh> in insert mode, they actually insert their codes instead of move the cursor.
[8:09] <Corsac> martinh: I think you might be in vi-compatible mode :)
[8:10] <martinh> I thought that at first. I'm not. :->

[11:53] <Emile> My tablet running without keyboard, runs only 7 minutes, after that I have to reconnect the charger and wait at least 15 minutes, how come ?
[11:54] <Emile> Anybody the same experiences ??
[11:55] <e42172> I would suspect the battery in the screen portion is going bad
[11:56] <Emile> I received this TB only 14 days ago !!
[11:59] <Emile> When I used the TB complete, tablet and keyboard, then I could use the tablet in only-mode !
[12:03] <martinh> check the forums & bug tracker. some other people have been reporting power issues.

[12:27] <Noume> power issues are pretty normal if the power converter is used for something it isn't designed for. I guess it would help connecting two cells in series. Anyone knows if there could be a problem with that?

[14:52] <Corsac> hmhm
[14:52] <Corsac> just stumbled accross http://blog.carolynworks.com/?p=284
[14:52] <Corsac> and thought the TB was the perfect device for that
[14:53] <Corsac> well, you have to get used to the keyboard to be able to type fast enough to get everything, but you also have the touchscreen and xjournal or something, to draw schematics and stuff like that
[14:54] <tommd> I don't think xjournal + the TB touchscreen is really enough to draw schematics.
[14:55] <tommd> The resistive touch sensing just isn't good enough.
[14:55] <tommd> Though switching to the thinnest possible "pen" in xjournal does help a fair amount.
[14:55] <Corsac> well, it works pretty fine on n900
[14:56] <Corsac> though I don't used it much on the TB
[14:56] <tommd> I'm not sure what touch-technology the N900 has.
[14:56] <tommd> I'm mostly saying the _hardware_ is insufficient - perhaps xjournal is fine.
[14:57] <Corsac> the n900 is resistive, that's why I'm saying that
[14:57] * Josh-Harris (~JoshHarri@174.32.213.23) has joined #touchbook
[14:57] <Corsac> the TB screen might not keep up, but that's not only resistive screens fault
[14:58] <tommd> Is the screen smaller? I notice the corner of the TB is OK for writing but getting into the center is annoying as you can't rest your hand on the screen. Also the resistive screen has more errors the further from the center you get making this a trade-off between the two issues.
