[3:33] <disi> quick question :) should I see anything on the screen, if the system doesn't boot or is this a hardware fault?
[3:43] <zopper> disi: AI logo or some mess
[3:43] <disi> then it's hardware? :(
[3:44] <zopper> have you pluged it in charger?
[3:44] <zopper> I mean the screen, not keyboard
[3:44] <disi> yes, I got it yesterday and it was charging all night...
[3:44] <disi> I only put it into the keyboard
[3:44] <zopper> if battery in the screen is empty, I have problem with turning it on
[3:44] <zopper> also if the keyboard battery is full
[3:44] <disi> ^^
[3:45] <disi> good idea
[3:45] <zopper> try connect screen to charger without keyboard
[3:45] <zopper> wait a minute... and try turn on it
[3:46] <disi> the keyboard LED was flashing this morning, I guess that one is fully charged
[3:46] <mervaka> bottom part is charged
[3:47] <zopper> yes, but if is TB turned off, the tablet battery isnt charging (at least for me)
[3:47] <disi> I detached the screen now and put in the power supply...

[4:07] <disi> no chnage yet :(
[4:12] <zopper> nothing happens?
[4:12] <zopper> display dont bright?
[4:13] <disi> nope nothing
[4:13] <disi> just leds on the board are going
[4:14] <zopper> mmmm
[4:14] <disi> I noticed that, if I totally remove the sdcard and turn it on, some of the leds are not flashing, but just on. With SDCard some flash a little, so it is definately booting something, but screen is pure nothing

[4:16] <disi> yesterday I charged it on the keyboard and didn notice that the system was still running (well, no screen), the board got pretty hot but I read in the forum this is normal...
[4:16] <zopper> maybe you can check connectors on board?
[4:16] <zopper> on wiki is howto
[4:17] <disi> kk
[4:17] <disi> http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/Top_part << this one?
[4:18] <zopper> yes
[4:18] <MikeEvans> Grr I was hoping I would be able to charge my mobile phone from the USB on the tb - but it won't :( That means I have to carry another transformer
[4:18] <zopper> MikeEvans: and what about, if you have charging TB?
[4:19] <MikeEvans> I'm going to have to look around for another product - so far I have one for the camera one for the phone and one for the touchbook
[4:19] <MikeEvans> zopper: I've tried it with the TB fully charged and when it is switched on and off
[4:20] <zopper> I have an usb ethernet which I can use only if is TB charging
[4:20] <MikeEvans> ah - maybe I should run the TB down a bit and then see if it will also charge the phone
[4:20] <zopper> If I disconnect the charger, battery probably cant give that curret
[4:21] <MikeEvans> no - I expected that it would need the charger connected - bit I tried that. The only thing is that the TB was fully charged
[4:21] <zopper> mmm
[4:22] <zopper> For me, phone is charging, if the TB is charging also
[4:22] <MikeEvans> ok - let me try again...
[4:22] <zopper> If you connect the phone into another PC, is charging?
[4:24] <MikeEvans> yes
[4:25] <MikeEvans> ok - what I have found is that the phone shows that it is charging if the phone is switched on - but not if it is off
[4:26] <MikeEvans> normally I can have the phone off and it detects the usb plugged in and shows charging
[4:31] <disi> sorry, I don think it is the cables. I never did anything else, than ejecting the SDCard and put it back in... I don't feel comportible removing the battery/motherboard to check connections :/
[4:32] <MikeEvans> also when I configure the phone as a mass storage device on the USB it doesn't mount on the tb, but it does on my laptop
[4:33] <MikeEvans> it's a little confusing becuase I get a sound played when the phone is connected so I suppose some driver is loading - I'll have to investigate further
[4:37] <Gary13579> MikeEvans, a lot of phones require drivers on the PC in order to charge via USB
[4:37] <Gary13579> (including iPhone iirc)
[4:37] <zopper> MikeEvans: what system is on phone? WM/symbian/android/any proprietary firmware
[4:38] <MikeEvans> it's a proprietary os I think - the phone is a Samsung
[4:38] <disi> forget it
[4:38] <disi> I had one, it needs the software -.-
[4:38] <zopper> disi: Ok.. Can you try reinstall AIOS? Ideal would be on another SD card....
[4:38] <MikeEvans> Gary13579: well it works on my laptop running Ubuntu :P
[4:38] <disi> my Motorola works fine
[4:38] <disi> everywhere :P
[4:39] <MikeEvans> I'll try it on the tb with the tb running ubuntu later
[4:40] <Gary13579> MikeEvans, how comfortable with electronics are you? I'd suggest hooking 4x 1.2v AA batteries in series up to a USB cable (on +5v cable and ground, obv) and see if that charges the phone
[4:40] <Gary13579> if not, it's expecting a driver to do at least a little data communication before charging
[4:41] <MikeEvans> I'm reasonably comfortable (I have a degree in electronic and electrical engineering) but if I'm going to carry 4 AA batteries I might as well take the phone charger with me
[4:42] <Gary13579> MikeEvans, it's just to test the phone, not a permanent solution ;)
[4:43] <Gary13579> alternatively you could gut a USB cable and just snip the data lines off
[4:43] <MikeEvans> Oh - I see - well I don't see that I need to test the phone. If I plug it into the laptop or my desktop machine (both running linux) then it charges. If I plug it into the charger (same connection) it charges
[4:43] <disi> zopper, here is a little summery: http://bugzilla.alwaysinnovating.com/show_bug.cgi?id=98
[4:44] <disi> I will try the other SDCard again, but as I said the screen doesn't do anything :(
[4:45] <Gary13579> yes, but phones are weird. the iPhone for example, when you plug it into a PC it does some simple checking with a driver on the PC before it will charge
[4:46] <disi> The TB was very cold, when it arrived and I first turned in on, maybe a cold "soldering" or something
[4:46] <Gary13579> I'm sure if that's the case, than the charger that came with the phone is designed to do it as well.
[4:46] <Gary13579> disi, that's not exactly how cold solder works ;)
[4:47] <disi> :)
[4:47] <disi> as I said I am not the hardware type of guy... :P
[4:47] <disi> at least it worked once ^^
[4:48] <Gary13579> it's fine :P but a cold solder join is pretty much always a flaw when the board is being made (it doesn't get hot enough to make proper contact)
[4:48] <Gary13579> s/join/joint/
[4:49] <disi> which of those kernels would you suggest: http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/release/
[4:50] <Gary13579> The latest :P
