[1:37] <WORMSS> Hello?
[1:39] <WORMSS> I am trying to use the "updater" 0.1.0-12 and I have the SD Card inserted, "H:\" and I even have the window for it open and I can see files within it, but when I run the updater I get "SD Card: No card is detected"
[1:39] <WORMSS> is there a way I can inform it to look at H:\

[2:37] <_koen_> DJWillis, Corsac: http://scap.linuxtogo.org/files/b44e75888575ef5175f01adc41ce7bf7.png :)
[2:39] <DJWillis> _koen_: :), very nice, official Angstrom Xfce image now?
[2:40] <DJWillis> _koen_: is that really on your OMAP3EVM? Never did the hardware mod to get DVI out working on mine.
[2:40] <_koen_> DJWillis: that's on the internal lcd
[2:41] <_koen_> DJWillis: and it's a huge e+xfce+gnome image
[2:41] <_koen_> DJWillis: http://scap.linuxtogo.org/files/5170137a53fa082b2349a49d301bec5c.png
[2:41] <DJWillis> _koen_: ahhh ;-), monster!, oh yeah, I can see its the internal LCD now.
[2:42] <DJWillis> _koen_: what performs best ;-)
[2:42] <_koen_> dunno, solitary doesn't really fit onto the screen :)
[2:56] <DJWillis> _koen_: so what made you consider a massive image? Not a bad idea mind you.
[2:58] <_koen_> it was a "let's see what happens" kind of thing
[3:00] <DJWillis> _koen_: I notice you bumped the default SGX driver version, now to fight with Ti for 2 weeks to get the binary ;)
[3:01] <_koen_> heh, the schedule is to release a new sdk each month :)
[3:01] <DJWillis> And then have the users take 6 weeks to get it ;-)
[3:03] <_koen_> DJWillis: TBH, the libs are in the angstrom feeds, so it's less of an issue now
[3:03] <DJWillis> _koen_: less but not ideal if your building for a machine that's not 100% mainline OE yet ;-)
[3:04] <DJWillis> Good to know the libs are in the feeds however, that's really good news I did not know.
[3:04] <DJWillis> _koen_: do the Ti SGX guys push up changelogs anywhere, still trying to see if the X performance drop issues we raised with Ti/Imgtec is still there in 1.02 that was in 0.09
[3:06] <_koen_> proper changelogs are under NDA
[3:07] <DJWillis> Doh!, figures
[3:08] <_koen_> imgtec nda even
[3:10] <DJWillis> Even better ;-), well they just tell me 'we think it 'may' be fixed' that inspires a lot of confidence ;-)
[3:10] <_koen_> DJWillis: I do have trouble logging in as root after a reboot, probably because root isn't in /etc/shadow
[3:11] <DJWillis> hmmm, that would make some sense. I have moved away from using root for most things in the Pandora images, with sudo and users in an admin group.
[3:14] <_koen_> there's no user defined by default
[3:14] <_koen_> maybe we should add an 'angstrom' user by default

[3:45] * setanta (n=setanta@200.184.118.130) has joined #touchbook
[4:15] <DJWillis> _koen_: also, shadow (if used as the login manager) will not let you login as root over serial (even with a securetty). Need to look at that, for now on the Pandora we have a 1st user (maybe something similar in Angstrom is not such a stupid idea) that setups a user and password and a few other things (timezone/date time etc.)

[4:34] * leinir (n=leinir@amarok/usability/leinir) Quit (Read error: 110 (Connection timed out))
[4:35] <_koen_> DJWillis: a wizard is a nice idea, but for non-interactive uses I think a default 'angstrom' user would be better

[5:56] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) has joined #touchbook
[5:57] <DJWillis> _koen_: true, I have a few ideas on making it optional (and an Angstrom user is also a good idea), I also need to tweak the script to use Zenity if X is installed and good old CLI prompts if there is no X.
[5:58] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) Quit ("No Ping reply in 90 seconds.")

[5:59] <_koen_> DJWillis: the serial loging is annoying, though
[6:00] <_koen_> DJWillis: is that pam or shadow being annoying?
[6:00] <DJWillis> _koen_: I suspect PAM, if you switch back to busybox for the login man it's ok, need to debug.

[6:58] <Meizirkki> whoa O_o AIOS really needs some cleanup..
[6:59] <Meizirkki> There's really big bunch of unnecessary stuff for normal user.. git for example
[6:59] <Meizirkki> or it that the idea of a "beta" (development) releases ?
[6:59] <_koen_> iirc it's there to allow you to compile stuff on the touchbook
[6:59] <_koen_> you might have noticed the ai-teaport example
[7:00] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) Quit (Client Quit)
[7:00] <Meizirkki> yes, but for a normal netbook user those are only waste of space
[7:01] <martinh> yea. it's a beta development release still.
[7:01] <Meizirkki> When the software is final i guess it's be smart to have separate rootfs's for development and normal use..

[9:00] <samp> Hi Corsac ... nope ... I received the notification on 5 January and looked at the forum annoucement , the recomendation there was to contact trought the IRC channel ...
[9:00] <samp> I can send the email ... no problem.
[9:00] <samp> Oh, I must explain that the delivery address is in Portugal.
[9:01] <samp> Europe ... so it could take some days to arrive ...
[9:02] <samp> It is just that I have no tracking for the order ... so if someone could track it for me I would be appreciated.
[9:02] <Corsac> if USPS doesnt screw up this time, you should have a tracking order when it's shipped
[9:02] <samp> Anyway if this is not the appropriate way to do so, no problem. I will email it ..
[9:05] <samp> I have a tracking number but on the USPS web page shows nothing ... One must understand that Before Christmas it is a very complex and intense logistics problem. But after 1 January they have no excuse ...
[9:06] <Corsac> alextisserant: hey
[9:06] <alextisserant> hey
[9:07] <samp> hey
[9:07] <Corsac> samp: well, you might ask if the tracking number is ok, but basically if it has been shipped and you have the tracking number, everything is in USPS hands I guess
[9:07] <Corsac> (and it might take some time to navigate through eu)
[9:07] <Corsac> (it did for mine)
[9:07] <Corsac> plus customs and stuff like that
[9:07] <samp> Well, my thought exactly ... I am afraid ...
[9:07] <Corsac> (and when it arrives, it gains a new tracking number for local post office, and nobody tells you what it is_
[9:08] <Corsac> usps tracking is updated, but scarsely
[9:08] <samp> I have bought many thing in US, to take advantage of the E/US exchange rate, and in the case of USPS the service is actually not bad! on the contrary I think is it good.
[9:08] <samp> Once the package arrive the local mail takes it to your door with the customs (Vat basically) paiyng note.
[9:09] <samp> It is actually very simple.
[9:09] <Corsac> samp: I'm just saying that usps tracking number website won't really be updated once it reaches customs
[9:09] <samp> The problem seems to occur in the Christmas end of the Year time ...
[9:10] <samp> This is the peak time for logistics ... and between the Atlantic it is a Very busy time no doubt ...
[9:10] <samp> Oh, Ok.
[9:10] <samp> No problem.
[9:10] <samp> I will just have to wait ...

[10:18] <Corsac> :)
[10:18] <gregoiregentil> http://bugzilla.alwaysinnovating.com/show_bug.cgi?id=94
[10:19] <Corsac> yeah i noticed that too, but don't really have clue
[10:19] <Corsac> however, what's needed is to reproduce on 4.6, because 4.4 is just really to old and unmaintained
[10:20] <Corsac> (need to schedule another 4.6 rebuild+test)
[10:20] <Corsac> that and -pm too
[10:20] <Corsac> (btw, did you succeed with ubuntu rotation?)
[10:20] <Corsac> oh, but I can test in ubuntu, no real need to rebuild 4.6 for now
[10:20] <Corsac> (but I'm at work atm so no touchbook)
[10:20] <gregoiregentil> well, it would take days to upgrade to 4.6 and make it polish at the same level to my 4.4. Won't do that...
[10:21] <Meizirkki> Ubuntu rotation seems to work

[10:24] <Corsac> gregoiregentil: 4.6 switch /will/ be needed at one point (unless you want to skip directly to 4.8 and libgarcon)
[10:24] <Meizirkki> Ubuntu looks for asound.state in /var/lib/alsa/ or something but copying asound.state from AIOS didn't help :(
[10:25] <Corsac> might be a pulseaudio problem too
[10:26] <Meizirkki> hmm
[10:26] <Meizirkki> alsa still says no soundcards detected..
[10:26] <Corsac> not really good

[11:36] <Meizirkki> yes
[11:36] <gregoiregentil> there is no recipe. So I guess that you have compiled on the device
[11:37] <Meizirkki> i just copied in precompiled one from maemo repos
[11:37] <Meizirkki> :P
[11:37] <Meizirkki> i tried to compile it myself first but failed
[11:37] <gregoiregentil> you are quite lucky...
[11:38] <Meizirkki> as always :P
[11:39] <Meizirkki> despotify cannot be used offline sadly :(
[11:45] <martinh> w
[11:54] <gregoiregentil> ping _koen_?
[11:57] <mjr> Well. You could modify despotify to save the files. That could break laws or user agreements though.
[11:58] <Meizirkki> mjr, it must save them somewhere to play them.. ?
[11:59] <gregoiregentil> so I"m interested by the sound problem on Ubuntu. Have you fixed it?
[11:59] <Meizirkki> mjr, I'm gonna go offline tomorrow and it's be cool to know where the tracks are..
[12:00] * Meizirkki wants to get sound in Ubuntu too.
[12:00] <Meizirkki> only thing keeping me with AIOS atm :)
[12:00] <mjr> Meizirkki, probably memory. But since despotify is free, you can do what you like.
[12:01] <mjr> that is, I don't think despotify caches the data. May be mistaken.
[12:02] <Meizirkki> hmm

[12:33] <Corsac> connection dropped _again_ ><

[13:01] <Corsac> hmmh, does someone know about a fullscreen, shiny rss reader?
[13:01] <Corsac> on ubuntu I use xscreensaver, to display an rss feed fullscreen which looks pretty fine
[13:01] <Corsac> but in AIOS there's no xscreensaver (nor in OE it seems)
[13:13] <DJWillis> Corsac: there is, 5.07 (so needs a bump) but builds fine, bitbake xscreensaver ;)
[13:14] <Corsac> yeah, correct
[13:14] <gregoiregentil> I compiled xscreensaver
[13:14] <gregoiregentil> there is a small bug because of new my xorg
[13:15] <gregoiregentil> I fixed it but I didn't include xscreensaver because he didn't make so much sense on this kind of device
[13:15] <Corsac> the rss stuff is nice
[13:15] <gregoiregentil> patch is my git

[13:56] <robbrit> does anybody have tips for getting these magnets apart?
[13:57] <Corsac> there's a video iirc
[13:59] <robbrit> yup it shows how to put them on the panel
[13:59] <robbrit> but the three magnets came stuck together in the package and i can't seem to get them apart
[14:00] <robbrit> was just wondering if anyone else had the same problem and did something other than just trying to force them apart
[14:00] <hyc> yeah, that's a real pain
[14:00] <hyc> pretty sure the wiki has advice for that.
[14:01] <robbrit> ahh got it
[14:01] <hyc> what finally worked for me was something I READ THERE
[14:01] <robbrit> thanks
[14:01] <hyc> Ooops, capslock
[14:03] <robbrit> yep it works well
[14:05] <DJWillis> What is the suggest panel plugin for reading the battery state on the TB.

[18:01] <tommd> mcr: No to your first question - the top half has no "stand" except for the bottom half.
[18:01] <tommd> Oh, and except for the magnets.
[18:37] <mcr> tommd, okay, so if I had a book end (which is metal) on my desk, I could magnet the touch screen to a desk, and use a regular keyboard/mouse.
[18:37] <mcr> I'm just thinking about being able to travel and use borrowed keyboards/mice, rather than take the entire unit with me.
[18:39] <mcr> hmm... there is a scummvm port too... kids click/play games (i.e. PajamaSam 1/2/3, others) would be very cool on the touchbook.
[19:12] <tommd> mcr: I would want to bring the keyboard part with me even more when I travel 1) another battery so longer use time 2) protection for the screen.
[19:13] <tommd> Just a thought.
