[11:27] <Sn0wman> anyone know if the TB's TS can be replaced with a capacitive touch screen?
[11:42] <tommd> Sn0wman: Its fairly well buried, I wouldn't try replacing it but perhaps you are more willing to take a small risk.
[11:42] <Sn0wman> how can I add a shortcut to the start menu or the desktop
[11:44] <Sn0wman> tommd: thanks
[11:57] * tommd (n=Thomas_D@65-102-11-148.ptld.qwest.net) Quit ("Leaving.")

[12:46] * MMlosh (n=MMlosh@2001:470:1f0b:b78:21fd:bd3b:c984:1e6) Quit ("a lot of work tomorrow, but there still might be an hour for Opensource... I hope so")
[13:00] <gregoiregentil> Sn0wman: On the desktop, create a file ending in .desktop. Take a look in the default Getting Started folder
[13:00] <gregoiregentil> For the menu, you need to edit the file menu.xml
[13:01] <tommd> gregoiregentil: Any progress on tangogps? How have you been liking it?
[13:01] <gregoiregentil> The default start menu is in /etc/xdg/xfce4/desktop/menu.xml
[13:02] <gregoiregentil> tommd: yes, it's working OK. Still would like to see the Google maps instead of the Google satellite but otherwise, it's OK
[13:02] <gregoiregentil> I have put it as default upon insertion of GPS dongle in 2010-01.a
[13:02] <tommd> Nice
[13:02] <tommd> Why do you avoid OSM?
[13:02] <Sn0wman> thanks guys
[13:03] <gregoiregentil> I don't. What is it?
[13:07] <tommd> gregoiregentil: OSM == Open Street Maps. Much like the Open Source movement seeks to free people from closed software, OSM seeks to free people from restrictively licensed maps.
[13:08] <tommd> It works with most open mapping software (tangogps, navit to name two) and is fairly complete / able to be updated wiki-style by anyone who will draw a path in or submit a GPS path in the right format.
[13:08] <gregoiregentil> ok
[13:08] <tommd> I think its current weakness is in street names and other useful content surrounding the street location.
[13:09] <tommd> It comes up just because you keep mentioning how you want google maps - not google sat view. Well OSM is much like google maps.
[13:09] <gregoiregentil> ok. It's the default in tangogps
[13:09] <tommd> Yeah
[13:09] <tommd> The servers seem slow, so I'd want to find a way to download large chunks of the world. Navit has an OSM extractor but tango seems to be lacking.
[13:10] <gregoiregentil> so which values are you recommended for low|high-threshold?
[13:10] <koen> I like OSM because it has 100% coverage of .nl thanks to a mapmaker donating all the data
[13:10] <tommd> ... are we switching topics to ai-daemon? I like 0.9 radians and 1.3 radians.
[13:10] <gregoiregentil> OK.
[13:10] <gregoiregentil> I've not well understood the advantages and which values should be applied in ai-daemon
[13:11] <gregoiregentil> so 1.3 would be like before?
[13:11] <tommd> It just feels right. There isn't any science behind my choice ;-)
[13:11] <gregoiregentil> and what would be the value of low threshold for like before?
[13:11] <koen> gregoiregentil: any updates on putting AI software in there own repo instead of source-in-OE?
[13:11] <tommd> Yes, 1.3 is much like before but with protection on the roll/pitch so it doesn't flip to a left or right side without fully being rotated.
[13:11] <koen> s/there/their/
[13:12] <gregoiregentil> koen: not sure to understand the question. you mean the stuff that I have in /OE/ai.../ai/postprocess ?
[13:14] <koen> no
[13:14] <koen> things like ai-daemon having its own repo
[13:15] <koen> you know, like normal software :)
[13:15] <gregoiregentil> koen: What would be the advantage?
[13:15] <koen> easier to contribute
[13:16] <koen> no need to pull down half a gig of OE tree for a 30kib source file
[13:16] <gregoiregentil> OK. I can try to see what I can do
[13:19] <Sn0wman> I made a file called claws.desktop and but "claws-mail" inside of it but I'm not sure what to do...
