[6:26] <martinh> tommd: well, it looks like the wxpython hasn't made it into the repository yet. failed the build. apparently.
[6:28] <martinh> so, i guess I really need to start working with builds.

[7:58] <martinh> sillly me. I think this easy_install of wxpython will work just fine.

[10:37] <azaghal> Ok, who in the world is int_0x80_?
[10:37] <int_0x80_> azaghal, go pv
[10:39] <tommd> int_0x80_: Are you referring to paravirtualization?
[10:40] * int_0x80_ (n=int_0x80@unaffiliated/int-0x80-/x-6755640) has left #touchbook

[10:53] <tommd> Yay, I now have a gt-730fl/s (battery backed / USB GPS receiver)
[10:53] <tommd> It isn't small enough to fit in the TB, but because its got a super-cap or a battery I can just leave the TB and put the dongle in my pocket.
[10:56] * MMlosh (n=MMlosh@2001:470:1f0b:b78:7c0c:6f66:1c4e:5fbe) Quit ("Bye...")

[11:18] <Gary13579> tommd, from what I hear most GPS's won't work inside the tb
[11:18] * azaghal__ (n=azaghal@91.148.112.87) has joined #touchbook
[11:25] * azaghal_ (n=azaghal@91.148.114.27) Quit (Read error: 60 (Operation timed out))

[11:33] <tommd> Gary13579: Yeah, no surprise. I see on the forums that people were hoping the ND-100 (which fits) would work, but it doesn't get fixes often.
[11:37] * azaghal (n=azaghal@33.225.178.212.adsl.dyn.beotel.net) Quit (Read error: 113 (No route to host))
[11:37] * azaghal__ is now known as azaghal
[11:39] <Gary13579> tommd, how exactly does the GPS you have work?
[11:39] <Gary13579> as far as unplugged data logging
[11:41] <tommd> Gary13579: It has a small battery onboard along with some flash memory.
[11:41] <tommd> Gary13579: I just received it an am currently unsure how that information will be retrieved, but it does stream fine when plugged in.
[11:43] <tommd> Perhaps it just streams the oldest-first when it has a backlog. Its not like there is an interface between the host and the gadget, just the one way serial stream.
[11:43] <Gary13579> well, it specifically says it can store 240k entries or some such
[11:44] <tommd> Yes
[11:44] <Gary13579> I'd assume it stores them then lets you retrieve ALL the entries later which would be interesting for working on openstreetmap
[11:44] <tommd> Which just means they took the size of the flash and divided it by the size of a NEMA message ;-)
[11:45] <Gary13579> of course, but because they're saying that I'd assume you could grab the backlogs :P
[11:45] <tommd> Gary13579: Thats my thought too. I'll go for a jog later and bring it with. When I get back I can give it a try.
[11:45] <Gary13579> problem is, does the backlog require a special windows driver to utilize them
[11:46] <tommd> I'll make a Linux driver if thats the case and I can understand the interface.
[11:46] <Gary13579> would be nice if they just opened up the flash as a usb mass storage device when you plug it in
[11:46] <tommd> They don't.
[11:46] <tommd> lsusb only shows the pl2303.
[11:46] <Gary13579> :( figures
[11:46] <tommd> Perhaps pressing the button will change that...
[11:47] <tommd> I'll do it after the run though
[11:47] <tommd> If you are interested I'll ping you back.
[11:47] <Gary13579> I am :) keep me updated. would get that over the nd-100 if the backlog is working.
[11:47] <tommd> Oh, and the manual is hilarious. I can understand what they mean, but wow! Talk about needing a native English speaker... even one as poor as me.
[11:48] <Gary13579> Heh, for all they know they got one. probably grabbed random guy, asked if they spoke english, and put him to work.
[11:49] <Gary13579> it's to be expected when you buy chinese products though
[11:54] <tommd> Ahh, there is a two-way communication. It says you can program the fix interval.
[11:54] <tommd> I must figure this out now!
[11:59] <Gary13579> heh

[17:36] <tommd> Gary13579: I got the tracks downloading with the open source app skytrac (on my laptop right now). It uses the "Venus 6" protocol and as such we should be able to get it working with the TB.
[17:36] <tommd> but I'm going now.
[17:36] <tommd> later

[21:22] <tommd> Gary13579: Another update - AIOS has skytraq-datalogger on it already so as long as you know the commands using it is simple.
[21:22] <Gary13579> great :)
[21:23] <tommd> But it isn't well integrated with other software. Its a shame navit doesn't seem to really work while simpler software that semi-works isn't on the OE repository (ex: tangogps).
