[3:18] <mervaka> try bitfrying it
[3:18] <Sn0wman> bitfrying?
[3:18] <Sn0wman> was that sarcasm?
[3:19] <mervaka> of course not.
[3:19] <Sn0wman> lol :-P
[3:19] <Sn0wman> but really... do you have any ideas?
[3:20] <mervaka> its like bitbaking, but with extra calories.
[3:20] <Sn0wman> rofl
[3:20] * mervaka reads up
[3:20] <Sn0wman> REAL IDEAS PLZ
[3:20] <mervaka> sorry, hangover..
[3:20] <Sn0wman> lol i'm 15, can't legally get those yet :-P
[3:21] <mervaka> cant say ive tried making a custom build yet.
[3:21] <Gary13579> "legally"
[3:22] <Sn0wman> well I copied and pasted the commands into the terminal so I don't see what could have possilby gone wrong...
[3:22] <Sn0wman> :-)
[3:22] <Gary13579> I can't "legally" get them either, but it still fcking hurts.
[3:22] <Sn0wman> how old r u gary?
[3:22] <Gary13579> 20
[3:22] <mervaka> dont evny me.
[3:22] <mervaka> envy*
[3:22] <Sn0wman> why not ?
[3:23] <Sn0wman> I wanna drink sum lemonchello (idk if thats how its spelled)
[3:23] <mervaka> its shit
[3:23] <Sn0wman> WHAT??? lemonchello is the shit
[3:23] <mervaka> i mean hangovers
[3:23] <Sn0wman> had some when I was in italy when I was like 11 or 12
[3:23] <Sn0wman> fuckin good stuff
[3:23] <Sn0wman> but wine... UGHH... wine is SO gross
[3:24] <Gary13579> ahh, amazing example of US parenting skills
[3:24] <Gary13579> wine will grow on you when you get older ;)
[3:24] <mervaka> nah
[3:24] <mervaka> he's right, its pap
[3:24] <Gary13579> pfft
[3:24] <Gary13579> nothing better than a nice glass of red wine/beer with dinner
[3:24] <Sn0wman> well I had probably about a the equivalent of .10 of a shot of the lemonchello and I just stopped tasting the wine cuz it was too gross
[3:25] <Sn0wman> never had beer i don't think
[3:25] <mervaka> ale ftw
[3:25] <Sn0wman> dont' want to. smelled my moms miller lite... uhh that shit smelled nasty
[3:26] <Sn0wman> r u gonna tell me that grows on me 2?
[3:26] <mervaka> tastes better than it smells
[3:26] <Gary13579> US beer is pretty bad. actually, for most, beer is another acquired taste. give it time lol.
[3:26] <Sn0wman> hehe. hey gary u done a custom build of AI-OS yet?
[3:26] <Sn0wman> compiled it*
[3:26] <Gary13579> no, I don't even have my TB yet :\
[3:27] <mervaka> european continent and india do the best lagers imo
[3:27] <Gary13579> mervaka, agreed
[3:27] <mervaka> english lager's pap
[3:27] <Sn0wman> meh... I'll wait till i'm 21 to drink beer... I can wait lol
[3:27] <Sn0wman> but i'm drinkin fruity alcohol asap
[3:28] <Sn0wman> lemon + liquor = yumminess
[3:28] <mervaka> smirnoff ice?
[3:28] <Gary13579> limoncello is borderline soda anyway
[3:28] <Sn0wman> but its soda that'll get u drunk!
[3:28] <Sn0wman> :-)
[3:29] <Sn0wman> soda + drunkeness = good time
[3:29] <mervaka> like chocolte liqiers?
[3:29] <mervaka> erh
[3:29] <mervaka> chocolate liqueurs
[3:29] <mervaka> spelling ftl
[3:29] <Gary13579> mervaka, it's hard to find decent ale in the states... guinness is the only main non domestic.
[3:29] <Sn0wman> drinking chocolate is just a bad idea in general whether it gets u drunk or not
[3:29] <mervaka> oh
[3:30] <mervaka> i live in cornwall, we brew some of the world's best ales
[3:30] <Sn0wman> good thing that we're filling the logs with useful TB-related information huh?
[3:30] <mervaka> and ale's pretty much an english thing i think
[3:30] <mervaka> yeah man
[3:30] <Sn0wman> and german?
[3:30] <Gary13579> you either have to go to really large pubs/stores, or get lucky.
[3:30] <Sn0wman> (from what i've heard)
[3:30] <mervaka> probably
[3:33] <Gary13579> mervaka, I'm actually really lucky, my local store carries hoegaarden

[4:25] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: from the AI GIT metadata? Yep, built the image for a TB target (easy if you know OE/Angstrom) but not tried it on a TB ;-)
[4:26] <Sn0wman> :-/ I get a bunch of errors
[4:27] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: such as?
[4:28] <Sn0wman> http://pastebin.com/m5fac8058
[4:30] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: bitbake (and maybe your local confs) are not setup correctly, your not even getting to a build.
[4:30] <Sn0wman> what do you suggest I do?
[4:30] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: tried a simple test, setting up as for building Angstrom but using the AI repros? That should get you going.
[4:31] * Vito89 (n=quassel@r6bf250.net.upc.cz) Quit (Read error: 113 (No route to host))
[4:31] <Sn0wman> wait
[4:31] <Sn0wman> i'm not supposed to be building this on an external machine?
[4:31] <DJWillis> i.e. follow the guide on the Angstrom site and use the GIT metadata from AI not git.openembedded.org.
[4:31] <Sn0wman> :-O
[4:31] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: your trying to bitbake ON the target? Wrong thing to do
[4:32] <Sn0wman> oh no I wasn't. I'm doing it right then
[4:32] <Sn0wman> I'm on a 9.10 laptop
[4:32] <Sn0wman> Ubu 9.10
[4:33] <Sn0wman> ok what does bitbake even do?
[4:33] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: your laughing then, yep, the entire OS image is cross-compiled to the ARMv7 target. OE with 9.10 is find and AIOS is just an Angstrom/OE fork (with custom metadata).
[4:33] <Sn0wman> all the man file said was that it executes commands or something unhelpful
[4:33] <DJWillis> bitbake is the engine that parses and processes the recipe and rule files for packages and deals with overseeing the build.
[4:34] <Sn0wman> alright
[4:34] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: read a few basic setup guides for OpenEmbedded and Angstrom to get the idea of what your messing with. You will also need a recent bitbake.
[4:34] <Sn0wman> well I got the bitbake from the karmic repo
[4:34] <Sn0wman> I got everything from the karmic repo
[4:35] <DJWillis> Not sure if that is recent enough for oe.dev (i.e. what is cloned into AIOS). I am using my own bitbake checkout but the principle is the same.
[4:35] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: setup your target and all that stuff correctly?
[4:36] <Sn0wman> I followed the wiki exactly
[4:36] <Sn0wman> copy/pasted the commands
[4:39] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: no idea about the AI wiki (I am not an AI dev, just an Angstrom/OE one) but http://wiki.openembedded.org/index.php/Getting_Started and http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/building-angstrom and some thinking should get you going, not sure what setup AI suggest but running AI's metadata tree with my usual setup works fine.
[4:39] <DJWillis> Sn0wman: in case it's not clear, I may NOT be giving you the best advice, just 'what I know works for me' ;-)
[4:40] <Sn0wman> alrighty
[4:40] <Sn0wman> thanks
[4:40] <DJWillis> Back later, damm meeting about some heavy tech stuff on Christmas Eve.
[4:41] <Sn0wman> alrighty
[4:41] <mjr> haven't followed closely lately; how's the generic stability wrt. usb and all nowadays?
[4:41] * Zopper (n=wampyr_w@ip4-83-240-68-155.cust.nbox.cz) Quit (Read error: 113 (No route to host))
[4:44] <DJWillis> mjr: assuming the recent Touchbooks have the same USB power tweaks used on recent Beagles and the Pandora, pretty good I would guess. EHCI USB is not as fast as it could be but the hardware and software is a lot more solid on the whole then it was.
[4:49] * Zopper (n=wampyr_w@ip4-83-240-68-155.cust.nbox.cz) has joined #touchbook
[4:50] <mjr> speed is less of an issue
[4:50] <mjr> if anyone can verify said tweaks being present that would be great though
[5:04] <Sn0wman> what should PERSISTANT_DIR be set to?
[5:05] <Sn0wman> I keep getting the error "please set PERSISTENT_DIR or CACHE variable"
[5:05] <Sn0wman> so how do I and what do I set them to?

[6:12] <mervaka> hmm
[6:12] <mervaka> do you get msn?
[6:13] <mervaka> i only get irc, gtalk and xmcp

[6:14] <mervaka> cheers
[6:14] <Gary13579> np
[6:17] <Govee> Gregoiregentil: thanks for the TBuntu login in the wiki. It does work. I have used the OS switching UI to get three of the OS's running (AI/Tbuntu/Android). Lots of good work going on.loaded.
[6:20] <Govee> did anyone have luck getting the TB to upgrade with the "reinstall" scrpit. I could not get any connection once the restart was initiated. I tried WEP, and no security and my other lappy would connect but not the TB. I was getting a failure of no IWLIST at line 229.
[6:40] <Tobi123> I tried to install msn, but I got the following error:
[6:40] <Tobi123> ai@touchbook:/home/ai$ ipkg install libpurple-protocol-msn
[6:40] <Tobi123> Nothing to be done
[6:40] <Tobi123> An error ocurred, return value: 4.

[6:40] <Tobi123> Cannot find package libpurple-protocol-msn.
[6:40] <Tobi123> Check the spelling or perhaps run 'ipkg update'
[6:42] <Tobi123> then I tried to update ipkg, but I got the error: An error ocurred, return value: 7.

[6:58] <Sn0wman> Tobi123: did you run ipkg as root?
[7:00] <Tobi123> I don't think so, I didn't use sudo and I'm ai@touchbook
[7:00] <Sn0wman> you have to run ipkg and opkg and any package manager as root
[7:00] <Sn0wman> "sudo -s" then "ipkg update"
[7:01] <Sn0wman> and if you want to install something "ipkg install PACKAGE_NAME"
[7:01] <Sn0wman> with the "sudo -s" before it of course
[7:03] <Tobi123> ok, thanks :)
[7:03] <Sn0wman> np. it all working now?
[7:03] <Tobi123> don't know yet, strill running
[7:03] <Sn0wman> alrighty, keep me update :-)
[7:04] <Sn0wman> updated*
[7:04] <Tobi123> okay
[7:05] <Tobi123> succesfully completed :)
[7:06] <Sn0wman> :-) there you go :-)
[7:08] <Tobi123> yeah, and nnow it works to install ICQ as well, that sudo -s was my fault. Thank you :)

[12:31] <gregoiregentil> But not the batteries indeed. Still working very hard on it. Bottom battery gauge has a small bug in the script. I will push a mini update (no reinstall) within a few days). For top battery, you will have to wait for next release :-(
