[6:06] <volatile1> Does tb have ISI connected?
[6:52] <_koen_> seems like basic touchbook support will hit 2.6.33
[6:55] <volatile1> I just installed LXDE on my tb
[6:56] <volatile1> When I boot I get the login window, but its takes very long to load the buttons below like change session and I cant login
[6:56] <volatile1> The mouse is a watch all the time
[6:56] <volatile1> Whats missing? :(
[6:56] <dpb> _koen_: uuh, nice

[7:45] <Meizirkki> AI GIT 3 weeks idle...
[7:46] <volatile1> ?
[7:57] <diroots> dmesg tells me nearly the same than http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/wiki/index.php/Booting, but mmcblk0: p1 p2 p3 p4
[7:58] <diroots> oups, missed
[7:58] <diroots> mmcblk0: p1 p2 p3 p4
[7:59] <diroots> sorry for poluting the chan
[8:04] <diroots> so, my dmesg tells me nearly the same than th one on the wiki page, but after mmcblk0: p1 p2 p3 p4, it goes directly to kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds (it doesnt tells anything about "usb 1-2.1: new low speed USB device using ehci-omap and adress 3" and all 4 lines about Always Innovating USB keyboard / touchpad) only "hub 1-2.1.0: over-current change on port 1"... and this last sentence repeats indefenitly on my dmes
[8:06] <diroots> that's certainly why i've no keyboard, and no touchpad working
[8:08] <diroots> but what's strange is the battery of kb part is detected, and used by my tb. so battery info goes well through the usb connector

[10:43] <GNUtoo> hi, I tried the following on my desktop computer to emulate the touchbook:
[10:44] <GNUtoo> mem=256M,no swap,and xfce
[10:44] <GNUtoo> but with xchat+pidgin I have: mem:247M used:208M buffer:2M Cache: 32M
[10:44] <honk> heh
[10:44] <GNUtoo> in htop
[10:46] <GNUtoo> so,is there any tricks to workarround this problem
[10:49] <honk> yeah, dont run your desktop OS in the background :]
[10:49] <GNUtoo> what do you mean by this? should I try angstrom on my desktop computer?
[10:50] <honk> I'd start by trying to get one of the systems that work on the touchbook running inside a vm - you dont have to cripple your own system that way ;)
[10:51] <GNUtoo> ok
[10:51] * MMlosh (n=MMlosh@2001:470:1f0b:b78:7045:1c76:ce9:30dd) Quit ("Bye...")

[10:56] <volatile1> FIN__Master: You here? :D
[11:00] <GNUtoo> ok should I build it or is there any images for qemu-arm?
[11:03] <honk> no clue =)
[11:04] <GNUtoo> ok I'll look in the touchbook wiki
[11:04] <GNUtoo> else I'll look in narcicius
[11:05] <GNUtoo> but with swap it's usable
[11:08] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) has joined #touchbook
[11:21] <GNUtoo> btw is it a good idea to replace the bluetooth key by a very small, fast and cheap usb key that does swap?
[11:24] <honk> why? what's wrong with plugging it into the third internal slot? O.o
[11:25] <honk> there's nothing wrong with doing it if you dont need bluetooth though ;)
[11:37] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) Quit (Remote closed the connection)
[11:37] <Gary13579> honk, better yet, get a wifi/bt on a single stick
[11:37] <Gary13579> ;)
[11:37] <honk> why bother? =)
[11:39] * Vito89 (n=quassel@gw.loccal.net) has joined #touchbook
[11:59] * dirk2 (n=dirk@p5B041E13.dip0.t-ipconnect.de) Quit (Remote closed the connection)
[11:59] <DJWillis> GNUtoo: I have run more than that on an old OpenPandora board that only had 128M. No issues, if your using 'Ubuntu's Xfce' then thats not going to help ;).
[12:03] <volatile1> DJWillis: Do I need something special for LXDE to run?
[12:03] <volatile1> (15:52:43) _koen_: seems like basic touchbook support will hit 2.6.33
[12:03] <volatile1> (15:55:56) volatile1: I just installed LXDE on my tb
[12:03] <volatile1> (15:56:27) volatile1: When I boot I get the login window, but its takes very long to load the buttons below like change session and I cant login
[12:03] <volatile1> (15:56:35) volatile1: The mouse is a watch all the time
[12:03] <volatile1> (15:56:39) volatile1: Whats missing? :(
[12:04] <DJWillis> volatile1: using Angstrom no, but it's an old version. Are you using the new LX login thing? Was that not a little flaky anyway?
[12:04] <volatile1> I just installed the version from aptitude
[12:06] <DJWillis> volatile1: can't help then, sorry :(. I have run it up from OpenEmbedded/Angstrom without to many issues but I am mainly Xfce tweaking these days trying to get 4.6 nice and solid on the OP.
[12:06] <volatile1> :(
[12:09] <DJWillis> volatile1: not a Ubuntu user, found the default setup far to slugish on OMAP3, it will no doubt improve but a lot does not behave as you would expect right now.
[12:09] <volatile1> I didnt use the setup
[12:10] <volatile1> I used a script that uses rootstock
[12:11] * Meizirkki (n=Meizirkk@bbwirelessgw2-feeedc00-64.dhcp.inet.fi) Quit (Remote closed the connection)
[12:26] <GNUtoo> DJWillis, yes that's what I used for testing (trisquel who is a jaunty clone)
[12:26] <GNUtoo> Gary13579, good idea...does it exist?
[12:27] <Gary13579> GNUtoo, yes, but don't ask me where, or if linux drivers exist. I've just seen em in the past.
[12:27] <GNUtoo> honk, because I plan to plug a 32GB key + to add a 32GB sdcard maybe
[12:27] <Gary13579> bluetooth really isn't needed imho, especially on linux.
[12:27] <honk> GNUtoo: so what? ;P
[12:27] <GNUtoo> ok
[12:28] <GNUtoo> honk, I'll reboot and try angstrom it in qemu
[12:28] <GNUtoo> else I've other devices but they have 128M max
[12:28] <volatile1> Why the hell you you need 64GB in a tb?!
[12:28] <honk> movies? =)
[12:28] <Gary13579> volatile1, why the hell not?
[12:28] <GNUtoo> no,music
[12:28] <volatile1> My EEE PC 901 has 12+16GB, it was always okay
[12:29] <GNUtoo> + some development files
[12:29] <Gary13579> if he wants it, go for it
[12:29] <volatile1> And with less performance, why more GB?
[12:29] <volatile1> ;)
[12:29] <Gary13579> GNUtoo, I suggest looking into 1.5" HDDs
[12:29] <Gary13579> instead of flash storage
[12:29] <GNUtoo> ok
[12:29] <honk> usb sticks are pretty cheap nowadays though ;P
[12:29] <GNUtoo> I didn't know it existed...the smallest hdd I knew were microdrives or 1.8"
[12:30] <Gary13579> might be 1.8, not sure
[12:30] <Gary13579> and usb sticks are still fairly expensive for 64gb, last I checked
[12:30] <GNUtoo> I've one btw
[12:30] <GNUtoo> 20GB I think
[12:30] <GNUtoo> ok
[12:30] <GNUtoo> I'll reboot to have more ram
[12:31] <GNUtoo> to try angstrom-arm in qemu-arm
[12:31] <GNUtoo> with 256M
[12:31] <honk> http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B001E9X8UK/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new :]
[12:32] <GNUtoo> s/qemu-arm/qemu-system-arm/g
[12:32] <Gary13579> whay is this silly ? symbol
[12:32] <Gary13579> s/whay/what
[12:32] <volatile1> honk: Let me guess, it makes 5mb/sec? :D
[12:32] <honk> prolly ;P
[12:32] <GNUtoo> Gary13579, pound I think
[12:32] <honk> Gary13579: are you kidding?
[12:32] <honk> british pound :]
[12:32] <Gary13579> honk, no I live in America
[12:33] <honk> so?
[12:33] <Gary13579> I am ignorant and other currencies do not exist
[12:33] <Gary13579> (sorry)
[12:33] <volatile1> Euro ftw :D
[12:33] <honk> indeed
[12:35] <honk> mhh.. 1.8" is kinda large though, isnt it?
[12:35] <Gary13579> I'm not sure, I don't have a TB to see how much clearance ther eis
[12:35] <honk> he's gonna need an usb to sata adapter, too :]
[12:36] <GNUtoo> there is 128GB but it's not cheap
[12:36] <volatile1> How much mb/sec does the tb make?
[12:36] <volatile1> At USB and SD-card
[12:37] <honk> no more than 30mb/s over usb ;P
[12:37] <volatile1> Not more, okay
[12:37] <volatile1> But does it achieve 30mb?
[12:38] <honk> http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3107/3947916630_241459ec94.jpg
[12:38] <Gary13579> yeah I've seen it
[12:38] <honk> <Gary13579> I'm not sure, I don't have a TB to see how much clearance ther eis
[12:38] <honk> :}
[12:39] <GNUtoo> wow so there is a lot of space inside
[12:39] <Gary13579> honk, there's no measurements
[12:39] <GNUtoo> btw thanks a lot
[12:39] <Gary13579> looks like there's enough room to me
[12:39] <honk> GNUtoo: well, 2 of those usb slots are usually taken by bluetooth and wifi ;)
[12:39] <Gary13579> but I wouldn't buy a 1.8" till I had one to double check
[12:39] <honk> Gary13579: fetch a ruler and calculate the size yourself
[12:39] <GNUtoo> ok
[12:40] <GNUtoo> honk, wget http://ruler.org (joke)
[12:40] <honk> you should be able to find the measurements for the touchbook somewhere. apply the rule of three and you'll be able to figure it out in like a minute ;)
[12:40] <Gary13579> yeah but I'm also busy
[12:40] <Gary13579> and hardly care
[12:44] <GNUtoo> I'll reboot and try qemu-arm
