[3:37] <azaghal> Anyone got idea how USPS tracking works when they ship international?
[3:39] <Corsac> azaghal: when it has passed the customs, a new (local) tracking number is generated for local tracking
[3:39] <Corsac> and the original usps is updated from time to time
[3:39] <Corsac> in my case, I didn't receive the local tracking number so I couldn't track it on local post, but I had news from time to time from usps
[3:39] <azaghal> If I registered at their site to get notifications, will I get that one as well?
[3:39] <azaghal> (e-mail ones)
[3:42] <azaghal> Ok... It landed in France, but I didn't get update through e-mail :/
[3:42] <Corsac> well, I wasn't really receiving them, so I'm not sure it's really reliable
[3:42] <Corsac> yup
[3:42] <Corsac> once it landed, it has to go through customs and then it's ???transformed??? in a colissimo
[3:42] <Corsac> and arrives not too long after
[3:43] <Corsac> (and, in my case, I didn't had any customs tax)
[3:43] <azaghal> Corsac: Which country?
[3:43] <Corsac> France :)
[3:44] <azaghal> Ah, nice :)
[3:44] <azaghal> How come they didn't charge tax, though? My uncle explained me they would.
[3:45] <Corsac> well, they could have
[3:45] <azaghal> Maybe they found out gregoiregentil speaks French, so they decided not to ;)
[3:45] <Corsac> but I'm not sure they _have_ to
[3:45] <Corsac> well, technically he _is_ French :)
[3:47] <azaghal> :D

[8:06] <gregoiregentil> azaghal: The French customs suck as usual... Just lucky that they didn't steal your box ;-) We had many problems in the past
[8:06] <gregoiregentil> But good for you in this case
[8:08] <jvs> our three devices arrived yesterday
[8:08] <jvs> 200 euros custom
[8:10] <gregoiregentil> sorry...
[8:13] * shiznebit (n=shiznebi@m385736d0.tmodns.net) has joined #touchbook
[8:21] <jvs> gregoiregentil, not your fault
[8:22] <jvs> the funny thing is
[8:22] <jvs> that's all the money I had
[8:22] <jvs> I gave the postman my last coin :D
[8:22] <gregoiregentil> :-(
[8:22] <jvs> plus lots of notes, of course
[8:23] <jvs> the currency rate is fortunate :)
[8:26] <jvs> hmm, I have to find out how to calibrate the touchscreen
[8:26] <jvs> there is an offset of about 0.5 cm
[8:26] <jvs> at the left, as well as the right
[8:26] <jvs> in the middle it's perfect
[8:27] <jvs> it's like the error get's worse the closer to edges you get
[8:27] <jvs> left/right, top/bottom
[8:29] <jvs> gregoiregentil, did you calibrate the tb with the protector on the display?
[8:37] * fooq (n=reini@cm56-152-97.liwest.at) has joined #touchbook
[8:39] * geep (n=JoeBelow@bas21-toronto12-1242432208.dsl.bell.ca) Quit (Read error: 104 (Connection reset by peer))

[8:48] <tommd> jvs: The TB is poorly calibrated when it isn't rotated to what is "right-side-up" when attached to the keyboard
[8:48] <tommd> jvs: Also, the latest OS has better calibration, so if you aren't using the latest then upgrade now.
[8:48] <jvs> tommd, I am
[8:49] <tommd> Also, I'm hungry
[8:49] <jvs> then it should re-calibrate on the fly when being rotated?
[8:51] <tommd> Yes, something about the settings needs changed on the fly when it rotates. Its in their bugzilla DB, but if your a developer with time to spare then I'm sure they could use a hand.
[8:51] <jvs> well, calibrate it four times and then reload the settings accordingly
[8:51] <tommd> yeah
[8:52] <jvs> hmm, sound like a good project for starters
[8:52] <jvs> I'll have a look tomorrow
[8:58] <gregoiregentil> they are two places to do this: /usr/bin/ai/desktop/rotation.sh (when the user forces the rotation through the display UI)
[8:58] <gregoiregentil> and in recipes/ai-daemon-files/ai_daemon.c, function static void processRotationSwitch()
[8:58] <gregoiregentil> when the ai-daemon detects and handles the rotation
[8:59] <jvs> k
[9:00] <gregoiregentil> it's not very optimal because code is a little bit duplicated between those two places. I don't remember why I don't call /usr/bin/ai/desktop/rotation.sh -f 90 in the daemon. That would be easier (one place to patch and it's a script) but I do remember that I did it intentionally (but I don't remember why!)
[9:00] <gregoiregentil> also, we have never really run the calibration, we took the one that a user posted on the wiki
[9:01] <gregoiregentil> ideally, it would be better to let/ask the user to do the calibration ?? la Palm of the 1990!...
[9:01] <Eruquen> gregoiregentil, how long do support tickes take these days?
[9:01] <gregoiregentil> usually, three days
[9:01] <Eruquen> ah, okay
[9:02] <gregoiregentil> there is usually a main "empty-the-queue" on Sunday night
[9:02] <Eruquen> oh, cool
[9:12] <ryuo> greg works on saturday?
[9:12] <ryuo> how unusual
[9:14] <azaghal> gregoiregentil: Erm, I still didn't get it, I just know it landed in France :)
[9:15] <azaghal> gregoiregentil: And in Serbia we have "standardisation fee", customs fee, and taxes (VAT).
[9:15] <azaghal> Which would make the device cost double if I ordered it over here :)
[9:15] <ryuo> azaghal, basically a "how dare to import goods!" tax.
[9:16] <ryuo> how dare you*
[9:16] <azaghal> ryuo: Basically a "you know some people have monopoly here and are bribing us for it, right?" :)
[9:16] <ryuo> i believe the archaic word for that is "tariff"
[9:16] <azaghal> I believe the modern word for it is racketeering :)
[9:20] <ryuo> Serbia?
[9:20] <ryuo> Do you mean Siberia?
[9:20] <ryuo> if not I'm not familiar with Serbia

[9:34] <viridior> koen, DJWillis: nice
[10:30] <fooq> gregoiregentil: regarding ts calibration. i don't see why it should make a difference, whether the tablet is rotated or not
[10:30] <fooq> the calbration points are the middle and near the four corners
[10:30] <fooq> so.. it really should make any difference how the tablet is rotated, or am i wrong?
[10:31] <fooq> should not ^
[10:31] <gregoiregentil> I really don't know.
[10:31] <fooq> ok

[12:48] <tommd> Ahh, gentoo on ARM.
[12:48] <viridior> yeah, i should put a bot in here, unfortunately i haven't really looked into it
[12:49] <viridior> tommd: neuvoo is a project to optimize gentoo for armv7a, im using very up-to-date toolchain and system packages
