Touchbook Issue

Postby RobBrit » Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:07 pm

Hey everyone,

I turned my Touchbook off earlier today to go to school, everything was working fine. When I got to school the machine would not turn back on again, even with the power plugged in. When I push the power button the backlight flickers on for a second and goes off again, and there is a little red light on behind the screen inside. If I hold the power down for 4 seconds it shuts the machine off, however this is about the only thing that happens with the machine.
Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this?

I tried taking it out and seeing if the system would boot differently, it didn't change anything. I don't have any other computers that can read SD cards so I can't check it any other way.

Sounds more like a freaked out top battery management again.
These steps worked for me:

1. Power it on
2. (While it's still on) Remove the top battery cable to shut it down
3. Plug the top battery back

It should now boot again

Nope, still the same issue. I also checked on the wiki, it told me to check the video connector. I checked that out and it seems to be fine. I sent a message to the Help Desk to see if they know what to do.

Hi RobBrit,

Your problem sounds similar to one I've encountered.

1.The white AI logo comes on
2. The screen goes black with some text at the top
3. The TB powers off.

This happened with the TB plugged in.

What worked: Left it to charge overnight. Next morning it powered on ok.

I've charged it up all day today, problem still persists. In fact I never even see the white AI logo, the screen just doesn't come on.
