Updated photos and hands-on demos

Postby Zathros » Fri Aug 14, 2009 8:02 am

Given that the Touch Book is now manufactured and shipping, I think the website Gallery should be updated.

I think it would be great to see the fake photos (i.e. the "real" ones which look more rendered than the "rendered" ones) replaced with photos of the real thing (in real settings), as well as some videos of the Touch Book in use - how it boots up, what the screen looks like, i.e., a general review/walkthrough of the device.

Surely someone could take a half hour and at least make a YouTube video...?

I'm assuming you *do* have a working manufactured unit ;-)

how the hell do the new photos look fake? the older rendered pictures were cleaner, and if you look at the edges, you'll see it was expertly cut out. if you look at the new ones, the background has been badly cut out, the machine looks clunkier, and in the fourth picture it has a smudge on the screen in the lower left corner, probably from being held in the previous picture. HOWEVER, i totally agree, there need to be more pictures, like the real pictures but without the background cut out, and a video like zathros said. so, +1

The old rendered ones were shiny and slick. The "new" ones are matte and drab. Do a "Coke" test and I bet you the person will say the rendered ones are the real ones... (other than the one with the hand in it, and the boxed one).

Agreed.

The current pics are too sterile, rendered or not. We need to see some pics of this thing in action and in a "to scale" setting.

One with the covers off to see the final layouts of the beagleboard and how the cover attaches would be nice too (since the only video showing it the cover off, it was basically taped on).

Videos of current OS operation are a must. Is this thing in production or not?

For the folks asking for less polished presentations, a video of booting up my TouchBook.

Doing good photos is difficult and expensive. The next step from Always Innovating is to do a few videos especially to show the fridge feature. ;)
