Copy/Paste and background issues

Postby kborer22 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 12:42 pm

i have been having some issues trying to copy and paste files, has any one else experienced this? For example i had a thumb drive inserted, copied the folder on to the desk top, zipped the file, and then was not allowed to copy it back onto the thumb drive. I have tried several drives and this seems to be consistent across the board.

Also, i decided i would change the desktop background on my TB. I was able to easily change the background, but when i shut the TB off and then turned it back on the next day it had changed to all red, not even the AI standard theme.

Any one else experiencing these problems/have any solutions?

These little nagging things are starting to build up, hope that next OS release gets here soon.....

I think USB drives are mounted read only when inserted, either that or only writable by root. I don't know why that would be since xfce on my desktop doesn't do that.

where did you store the picture for the background?
I set a jpg from an USB stick as the wallpaper. The pic stayed there even after I removed the USB stick but after a reboot it was gone.
I tried the same thing after copying the jpg the the pictures folder (and applying the copy in the pictures folder as the wall paper) and the background is now permanent.
