Smart Book vs Touch Book and Delivery Times?

I received an email stating expected delivery date is towards the end of this quarter.

Do I get it right I have just ordered a smartbook that will not be delivered until the end of this year???
What does AI mean by: "”Also, we will be as much transparent as possible regarding the status of our production so that you can make your own idea of when you could received your order."
Transparent, as in: 'We wont give you any feedback whatsoever, you simply have to guess and hope for the best'?

I've sent an e-mail to AI to confirm the shipping date, they said it will be "this summer" (if you are from south hemisphere, like me, that means this winter).

I've seen people on the forums saying that the expectation is to begin the shipping of new orders is by the end of summer. Is it true? Can you tell me when my order is going to be shipped as well?

It's intel, so the battery life isn't as good as the ARM, but it suits me just fine for toting to work.

I too tired of waiting for the TB or SB, seems they keep pushing it to the next season

And I'm just fine waiting. It's the MID and the total combined battery life that are the killer features for me, and I still haven't seen anything remotely similar.

I mean... I would *prefer* to have it, nothing about a regular netbook has ever been compelling to me and I haven't found the tablet concept to be useful beyond coffee table internet.

Yeah, I agree about the MID. I don't really primarily want a tablet but it would be nice to have. I currently have an aging N810 which would be perfect for me if it were faster..the one thing I don't like about the mid is that I don't have a sliding keyboard. Anyway, I don't mind waiting either but the lack of communication with the customer base and the huge amount of unaddressed problems on the touchbook support forum make me nervous. Does anyone know if you can get a Squaretrade warranty on this in case AI doesn't deliver? I'd like to have some backup if it totally dies and I'm left with an unusable product like some TB users.
